History

Welcome to World Transport Overseas, a leading freight forwarding company with 26 offices across 12 countries in Europe and Asia. We offer reliable sea freight, fast and secure air freight, and comprehensive road transport services. Our extensive network of own subsidiaries and representatives ensures global coverage with local expertise, providing tailored freight solutions. The company’s policy is entirely focused on meeting and exceeding all the requirements of our customers in the field of transport and logistics, as well as offering additional services directly or indirectly related to this activity. 2001

WTO was born with offices soon following in Varna and Burgas. The initial main focus of the company was ocean freight service FCL.

2007

WTO expanded its portfolio to include airfreight service and inaugurated a new office in the airport of Sofia.

2008

First own ocean consolidation services have been launched by WTO, connecting Asia and Eastern Europe. Within the next 2 years, the own consolidation network grew exponentially. Today WTO is one of the main players on the ocean consolidation market in Eastern and Central Europe.

2009

WTO has made the first step towards becoming a regional player by opening own offices in Belgrade (Serbia), Zagreb (Croatia) and Koper (Slovenia), which firmed WTO's position as a strong player on the Adriatic market.

2013

Microsoft Dynamics Nav based ERP system was implemented first in all HQ offices, then in all subsidiaries of World Transport Overseas. The company got ISO 9001:2008 certified in 2014.

2015

First EDI projects with main customers and partners have been successfully completed: Awarded by Forbes Bulgaria for "Quality of Services" and "Customer Policy".

2017

Automated cargo tracking notification service started; Purchase of land for construction of Logistics Center next to Sofia Airport. Awarded for the 2nd time by Forbes Bulgaria for "Quality of Services" and "Customer Policy".

Mission
2018

Certification of the new version of ISO 2008:2015 standard. Enhanced website functionality and vision; Initiation of the construction of the company's new Logstics center nearby Sofia Airport.

2020

This evening at the Forbes Awards Ceremony, World Transport Overseas was honored to receive the “2020 Company of the Year” award in the sector of services in Bulgaria by Forbes.

2020

Following Vision 2030's strategic plan to cover the world's major logistics markets with our own subsidiaries, World Transport Overseas opened its own company in China. World Transport Overseas China is an NVOCC operator and is fully operational from 01.09.2020.

2021

As next and important step in the execution of the companys strategic plan "Vision 2030", WTO has inaugurated its own subsidiaries in Greece and N. Macedonia.

2022

WTO opened its own offices in Taiwan, Kosovo, and Romania and integrated its ERP system with the leading logistics platform for document and information exchange, INTTRA. In Bulgaria, our network also expanded with a new office in Ruse.

2023

World Transport Overseas China expanded its footprint by opening new offices in Ningbo and Chongqing. We continued our growth in the Balkans with a new office in Albania. The Capital newspaper recognized us as the fastest-growing company in the Transport and Logistics sector.

2024

We took a step forward with a new subsidiary in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our new office in Shenzhen, China, also opened its doors. As a reward for our efforts, we received the prestigious Forbes Company of the Year 2024 award in the Services sector.

Since 2013, World Transport Overseas is a member of the largest voluntary corporate responsibility initiative in the world with over 12,000 corporate participants and other stakeholders from over 145 countries – United Nation Global Compact.



The Global Compact is a platform for knowledge exchange and dialogue with the active participation and support from companies, UN organisations, business associations, NGOs and trade unions to promote social responsibility and ethical business standards. Through its commitment to the generally accepted values ​​by minimising the negative impacts of its business operations can contribute to make globalisation a positive force.
